The objective of the anti-ragging cell is to eliminate ragging in all its forms by prohibiting it under UGC regulations, preventing its occurrence through appropriate measures, and punishing those who indulge in ragging.
Measures for Prevention of Ragging:
Awareness and Publicity:
- Conduct awareness campaigns through posters, banners, and handouts.
- Include anti-ragging information in the prospectus and brochures.
- Organize orientation programs for new students and parents to inform them about anti-ragging measures.
Anti-Ragging Affidavit:
- Obtain anti-ragging affidavits from all students and their parents during admission.
Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad:
- Constitute an Anti-Ragging Cell with representatives from faculty, students, parents, and civil society.
- Form an Anti-Ragging Squad with members who conduct surprise inspections at vulnerable places.
Monitoring Mechanisms:
- Install CCTV cameras at vital points.
- Conduct regular monitoring of hostels and campus areas
Inquiry and Punishment:
- Conduct a detailed inquiry within 7 days of receiving the complaint.
- Apply appropriate penalties as per UGC guidelines, which may include:
- Suspension or expulsion of the student.
- Debarment from appearing in exams.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Filing a police complaint if the act constitutes a criminal offense.

It deals with all types of grievances and complaints except examination and sexual harassment complaints.
